Born and raised in Northeast Pennsylvania, Carl DeWitt discovered his passion for songwriting when he was sixteen years old. Music became his way of expressing the emotions and experiences that came with growing up and trying to understand life. While singing in his high school choir, Carl also developed his vocal abilities by repeatedly studying songs he heard on the radio. Through patience and practice, he learned to master their timing and vocal styles while discovering his ability to adapt his voice to sound like different artists.
Carl was first drawn to rock and roll before developing a deep love for the blues. As his musical journey continued, he gained a greater appreciation for country music, with artists such as Hank Williams Jr. and Alabama becoming important influences. Eventually, Carl wrote his first country song, allowing the words and melody to come to him naturally. He believes that everything he has ever written has been Heaven sent, giving each song a deeper sense of meaning and purpose.
After recording his first country song, Carl visited a local country radio station hoping to receive an honest opinion from the receptionist. To his surprise, she took him into the manager’s office, where the manager stopped what he was doing and listened to the song several times. Impressed by what he heard, he encouraged Carl to have it copyrighted. Carl later shared the track on social media, where it gained more than 300 views largely through word of mouth and received encouraging reactions from listeners. Today, Carl DeWitt is praying for Grammy recognition and hoping his music will reach people around the world.
